UP GUARD JAMES SPENCER MAKES NBL1 DEBUT FOR DADENDONG
Fil-Australian guard James Spencer is seeing action in the National Basketball League1-South playing for Dandenong Rangers.
With the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) canceling season 83 over health and safety reasons, Spencer has taken his craft overseas suiting up for one of the clubs in his home state of Victoria in Australia.
The University of the Philippines (UP) guard debuted in the NBL1 last April 17 and has already played for two games.
In his maiden match in the league, he registered three points, two steals, and a rebound in their 67-90 defeat to the Diamond Valley Eagles.
He logged five points, two rebounds, and two assists bowing out to Frankston Blues, 76-110 on Rangers’ attempt to bounce back last Saturday.
Spencer was part of the Gilas Pilipinas youth team in the 2019 Fiba Under-19 World Cup in Greece norming 4.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.6 rebounds.
The 21-year old then committed for UP Fighting Maroons helping the team reach the final four during Season 82.
Dandenong Rangers will be up against Bendigo Braves on May 2.
