UAC OPT-OUT OF UPCOMING PVL OPEN CONFERENCE
Unlimited Athletes Club (UAC) will postpone their maiden stint in the Philippine Volleyball League (PVL) after filing for a leave of absence for the upcoming 2021 Open Conference on July 17.
“Yes, they are on leave,” said PVL tournament director Tony Boy Liao confirming the development.
UAC had filed for a leave in the league last month citing the lack of preparation ahead of PVL’s debut as a professional league that is set to take place in Laoag Centennial Arena.
“They were saying (the) reason was short preparation. They filed it last month,” said Liao.
Formerly known as Peak Form, UAC Power Hitters announced last February that it will be joining the professional volleyball league.
The squad was supposed to be bannered by retired skipper Mela Tunay and will be joined by former University of Santo Tomas standout Chloe Cortez.
Moreover, former Cignal head coach Edgar Barroga was tapped to man the helm for UAC for their PVL debut.
Despite the departure of UAC, PVL will still have 11 squads for their first professional conference next month, which includes Creamline, Petro Gazz, Perlas Spikers, Choco Mucho, BaliPure Army, F2 Logistics, Chery Tiggo, Sta. Lucia, PLDT, and Cignal.
