THE COMMISSION on Human Rights (CHR) trained teachers and school personnel at Commonwealth High School in Quezon City as part of its 2026 Safe Spaces Caravan.

Held on September 11, the training sought to strengthen the capacity of educators, guidance counselors, administrators, and other school personnel to foster a school environment where learners are treated with dignity and protected from harassment and discrimination.

Participants underwent the Comprehensive Safe Spaces Act Module, which covered sex and gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, key provisions of the Safe Spaces Act, and child protection.

An advocacy booth was also set up during the caravan, providing educational materials to help members of the school community learn more about their rights and ways to prevent gender-based sexual harassment.

Through the initiative, the CHR aims to help educational institutions translate safe-space principles into school policies, learner-support mechanisms, and everyday interactions on campus.

The caravan is part of the Commission’s continuing efforts to promote school environments that uphold and respect the rights and dignity of learners.
