NORTHPORT SENDS BLACKWATER INTO RUINS WITH 4TH STRAIGHT WIN
Northport showed no mercy after dominating Blackwater yesterday, 116-103 in the PBA Governors' Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The newly joined Gilas player Robert Bolick marked the win for Northport with his 30 points and 11 rebounds.
Blackwater was able to get fast against Northport in the early game but with almost three minutes left on the clock, Northport was able to retaliate and the tied score of 21 was shattered by the exploded three points of Bolick and a dunk coming from Jamie Malonzo.
Northport seemed to get a step forward and two steps backward as the Bossing team continued struggling with Shawn Glover scoring 47 points, 17 points higher than Bolick.
Nevertheless, Northport showed the pivotality in basketball—teamwork.
“It’s a total team effort. Everybody stepped up, especially in the first group,” NorthPort coach Pido Jarencio pinpointed.
“Everybody wants to win. From 0-5, we worked hard for this fourth straight win,” he added.
The half quarter of the game ended with a 12 points advantage in favor of Northport as Bolick continued to connect with Artis and Malonzo who gave a three in the corner at 1:54.
Blackwater turned to a burnout stage after finishing the third quarter into a whopping 20 points deficit, 95-75.
Batang Pier did not waste time and hugged the victory with its 4th straight win, standing at a 4-5 win-loss situation.
