La Salle Green Archers secures multi-awarded Diogenes Poquita
Taft-based men’s volleyball squad is not taking the next UAAP Season for granted after embracing Diogenes Poquita to add more power on the team after the latest recruit of former NCAA MVP Noel Kampton.
“Yes po, naka-commit na po ako sa La Salle,” he shared in an interview with Tiebreaker times.
Poquita will be the gunpowder for the Green Archers as he was a back-to-back team captain of the National Youth team and NU Nazareth.
He was also a two-time UAAP Best Setter in the Juniors Division, as well as a standout of Palarong Pambansa 2019 after claiming the MVP and Best Setter plum.
While during his five-year stay with the Bullpups, he swept 4 titles winning in Seasons 78, 79, 81, and 82.
Co-players in the Sea Games are one of the factors that led to Poquita’s decision to wear the Green and White jersey.
Together with Vince Maglinao and John Mark Ronquillo will make the team a power-house for the Green Spikers.
He will also be able to play along with his former National University teammates in Billie Anima, Angel Serrano, Gian De Jesus, Raphael Sumalinog, Gibson Balanong, and Kampton.
Poquita shared that he can’t wait to play with them as these sets of rookies will rest in the same court once again and at the same time not as a foe but as an ally.
“Excited na po. Parang dati lang at walang nagbago sa samahan namin. I hope makapaglaro kami together at our best talaga,” he shared.
For the last seven seasons, DLSU had not relished a championship nor landed in the semi-finals. And this 19-year old young man pledged to bring his championship experience to clear the vision of La Salle—to dominate the Finals.
