FORMER LA SALLE SETTER AND UAAP CHAMPION NOW A LICENSED DOCTOR
UAAP champion setter Mika Esperanza is now a licensed doctor after passing the recent Physician Licensure Examination.
The De La Salle setter achieved another feat in her life—this time outside of volleyball as she can now call herself Dr. Esperanza.
The 27-year-old Esperanza, who took the exam last October 30, 2021, shared in an emotional social media post, thanking everyone who supported her longtime dream.
“Doktor na ako. Thank you for all those who prayed and helped me get where I am today,” Esperanza said, showing a screenshot of the results that were released last Thursday.
“Thank you for all those who prayed and helped me get where I am today. Thank you Lord,” she said.
Esperanza entered medical school in 2016, after graduating with a degree in Psychology from DLSU.
She graduated last year with a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay (UERM) in Quezon City and trained at the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center.
Esperanza, who was named Rookie of the Year in UAAP Season 73, helped the Lady Spikers earn the UAAP Season 78 championship in 2016 alongside fellow graduating stalwarts like Ara Galang and Mika Reyes.
She also played in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) with the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers then transferred to Cocolife in 2018.
