FIBA UNVEILS GILAS 21-MAN POOL FOR FIBA WORLD QUALIFIERS
FIBA releases the 21-man Gilas Pilipinas roster for the upcoming second window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asia qualifiers on Tuesday.
A hybrid of veteran players and young guns will make up the national pool bannered by veteran guard Jayson Castro.
Castro is one of TNT core who will make up the pool along with returning national team players Troy Rosario, Poy Erram, Kelly Williams, Ryan Reyes, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Jayjay Alejandro, and Carl Bryan Cruz.
Moreover, TNT players Kib Montalbo, Brian Heruela, Glenn Khobuntin, and Gab Banal will be making their first national team callups. While RR Pogoy will be out of contention due to a left calf strain injury.
The rest of the lineup is composed of naturalized center Ange Koaume, Robert Bolick, Dwight Ramos, Thirdy Ravena, Juan Gomez de Liano, Lebron Lopez, William Navarro, Tzaddy Rangel, and Jaydee Tungcab.
Out of the 21 names in the pool, only 12 will be selected at least 24 hours in advance before each game day.
Gilas will face Korea on February 24, India on February 25, New Zealand on February 27, and Korea again on February 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
