QUEZON City 5th District Rep. Alfred Vargas filed a resolution directing the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture to conduct an inquiry on the proposed implementation of blended and distance learning, particularly the limited face-to-face classes.

In House Resolution 2204, Vargas stressed that it is the duty of the government to ensure that quality and accessible education is delivered, and that the graduates are equipped with sufficient knowledge and expertise to take part in nation-building.

“Several concerns have been raised by teachers and educational groups particularly on the need for more technology-based training and support for teachers and more effective ways to teach practical exercises especially to senior high school students,” Vargas said.

Senior high school students, especially those under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood tracks, might need more limited and controlled face-to-face classes for their specialized and practical exercises, he said.

The Department of Education and Department of Health drafted guidelines for the conduct of in-person classes in 120 schools located in ares with low Covid19 risk.
