THE DEPARTMENT of Education said that more than 37,000 schools are ready to serve as voting centers for the May 9 elections.
“All of these [schools] are ready and they are also prepared for testing and sealing [of the vote counting machines] from May 2 to 7,” DepEd Director of Public Affairs Services Marcelo Bragad said.
Teachers who have been appointed to serve as board of election inspectors have completed the required training and are prepared to serve in this year’s elections, he added.
Bragado said that classrooms will provide disinfecting spaces and a support desk to assist voters.
Electoral Boards, also known as BEIs, are generally made up of public-school teachers who are willing to undertake election-related services, the Commission on Elections Resolution 10460 said.
They will receive honoraria, travel allowance and communication allowances and service credits
