EDCOM 2 CEMENTS PARTNERSHIP WITH BRITISH COUNCIL AND TEACH FOR THE PH
THE SECOND Congressional Commission on Education or EDCOM 2 signed partnership agreements with the British Council and Teach for the Philippines for various programs seen to elevate the quality of education in the country.
During the signing ceremony at the University of the Philippines, Dr. Karol Mark Yee, EDCOM 2 executive director, said the partnerships are essential to make the commission’s work in research and policy-making successful.
“We welcome organizations like TFP and the British Council as valuable partners in our mission to elevate the quality of education in the Philippines,” Yee said.
The British Council will work with EDCOM 2 towards the internationalization of higher education and transnational education. There are several outlined programs from 2023 to 2025, including a study visit to the UK, undergoing a pilot study about the value of internationalization of higher education and transnational education, and launching a Philippine-UK policy fora in higher education by the tail end of the partnership.
The signing was witnessed by EDCOM 2 Co-Chairpersons Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Representative Roman Romulo, and Representative Mark Go. Senator Sonny Angara and Representative Kiko Benitez, who are also EDCOM 2 commissioners, were also present during the event.
Meanwhile, the TFP partnered with EDCOM 2 by providing alumni ambassadors to serve as technical consultants throughout the duration of the commission.
