DEPED, LANDBANK TEAM UP TO REPAIR LAST MILE SCHOOLS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education has partnered with the Land Bank of the Philippines to repair classrooms in 12 schools located in disaster-affected areas.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara and LBP President Lynette Ortiz led the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that solidifies the bank’s commitment to funding these repairs, allocating P500,000 per school over the two-year partnership.
Under the MOU, DepEd’s concerned Schools Division Offices will oversee the repairs, ensuring compliance with government standards while also facilitating the continuity of learning during the renovation process.
In addition, Ortiz expressed LBP’s willingness to assist DepEd in engaging other banks to include the Adopt-a-School Program as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
Angara commended LBP’s support, emphasizing that the department welcomes similar partnerships to improve the delivery of basic education in the country.
“If we combine the Corporate Social Responsibility efforts of all the banks, we can make a real impact. We look forward to more partnerships in the future,” Angara stated.
