/ 31 December 2021

IN PREPARATION for the gradual resumption of face-to-face classes, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong urged teachers and students to get vaccinated against Covid19.

“There are vaccines, booster shots included, purposely set aside for students and teachers,” Magalong said.

“Hopefully, hindi matindi ang Omicron, so we can proceed with planning (for academic) activities,” he added.

The Commission on Higher Education required students and teachers who participate in physical classes to be inoculated against Covid19.

The agency earlier reported that 56.41 percent of college students and 95 percent of teachers and school staff have been given jabs.

CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III said that 247,604 out of the 292,969 teaching and non-teaching personnel in higher education institutions have been fully vaccinated.

He added that 4,099,519 tertiary students have received their first dose of Covid19 vaccine, while 2,310,037 are fully vaccinated.

De Vera III had said universities and colleges may start conducting limited physical classes in all degree programs in December.
