VSU PROGRAM EARNS COPCs FOR FIVE SPECIALIZATIONS
THE VISAYAS State University Main Campus has been awarded Certificates of Program Compliance for five specializations in its BS Civil Engineering program.
This marks the first time in the Visayas region that a BSCE program has received COPCs under the new guidelines set by the Commission on Higher Education.
The following specializations were granted compliance:
Construction Engineering and Management
Geotechnical Engineering
Structural Engineering
Transportation Engineering
Water Resources Engineering
VSU President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes personally received the COPCs from CHED Regional Office VIII last week.
“These COPCs are a testament to our mission to propel VSU further. Let’s always comply with CHED’s policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure we provide quality education to our students,” Yepes said.
The BSCE program follows in the footsteps of VSU’s BS in Mechanical Engineering, which was awarded its own COPC in 2015.
The COPCs serve as official recognition that the BSCE program meets CHED’s standards and aligns with key educational reforms, including:
K to 12 curriculum
New general education requirements
Outcomes-based education (OBE)
Applicable professional standards
The evaluation process involved a thorough review of the program’s instruction, research, and community involvement, with a strong emphasis on Outcome-Based Engineering Education as outlined in CHED CMO 37, s. 2012. The assessment also examined faculty qualifications, infrastructure, facilities, library resources, and student support services.
