UST SUSPENDS CLASSES, WORK FROM MAY 9 TO 10
CLASSES in all levels and office work at the University of Santo Tomas will be suspended from May 9 to 10 to allow students and staff to cast their votes.
“To allow the eligible members of the Thomasian community to exercise their right of suffrage this coming week, classes in all levels and office work in the University of Santo Tomas will be suspended on May 9 and May 10, 2022 (Monday and Tuesday),” UST said in a Facebook post.
The university urged the community to pray for clean, orderly, credible and peaceful elections.
“Considering the sacredness of our votes and our participation in the electoral process, let us dutifully and wisely exercise our right to vote for the sake of the common good of the Filipino nation,” it added.
The Department of Education earlier suspended classes in all levels in public schools from May 2 to 13 to give way to election-related activities.
The Commission on Elections said that at least 67.5 million Filipinos will cast their ballots on May 9.
