SILLIMAN U ALUMNUS RECEIVES 2024 UNITED HOSPITAL FUND AWARD
AN ALUMNUS of the Silliman University will receive the 2024 Excellence in Health Care Award for Quality Improvement Champions from the United Hospital Fund.
Alfredo L. Alvarado, Jr. was recognized for his extraordinary leadership “to improve quality of care, patient safety, and/or patient experience at Saint Barnabas Hospital Health System.”
UHF will confer the award to Alvarado at the Tribute to Excellence in Health Care, which will be held in New York City this month.
“Al is a humble leader who prefers the recognition and accolades be given to frontline staff, but today he is deserving of this recognition of his leadership and many accomplishments to improving care for all patients,” SBH Senior Vice President Robert Church said upon nominating Alvardo for the award.
According to SU, Alvarado began his career at SBH in 1999 as an Assistant Director of Nursing.
He rose through the ranks and now holds the title of Vice President-Operations at the SBH Health Systems in Bronx, NY.
He is also an active and generous member of the Silliman University Alumni Association of New York-New Jersey.
Alvarado received multiple scholarships during his time at Silliman University College of Nursing, including the Honor Scholar, Dr. Victor Rich Scholarship, Rotary International Scholarship, Clarence Butchby Scholarship, and Fong Scholarship Grant. He graduated with honors in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1988.
