/ 14 January 2024

THE Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology renewed its partnership with the University of Hawaii at Hilo for the conduct of joint conferences.

Officials MSU-IIT and UH witnessed the signing of a memorandum of agreement on Wednesday, January 10, at the school’s Office of the Chancellor.

The agreement was made possible through the Department of Filipino and Other Languages in partnership with the Center for Language Studies, and the Mindanao Heritage and Indigenous Research Center, under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise.

During the event, MSU-IIT Chancellor Ditucalan stressed the university’s ongoing commitment to language and heritage collaborations.

MSU-IIT said the upcoming 2nd International Conference on the Teaching of Filipino as a Second/Heritage Language will take place online via Zoom.

It noted that the conference aims to disseminate and enhance education and knowledge related to the Filipino language and studies on both national and international platforms.

The school added that it seeks to explore the vital role of language as a conduit for culture, history, and traditions, contributing to the uniqueness of the Filipino identity.

“The renewal of this partnership underscores the institution’s dedication to fostering linguistic and cultural understanding, with aspirations for future expansion,” MSU-IIT said.
