ISABELA STATE U, ARMY INK PACT FOR GENDER MAINSTREAMING EFFORTS

THE ISABELA State University and the Philippine Army signed an agreement for a research project that aims to help curb violence against women in Cagayan Valley.

Representatives of ISU and the Army met on April 27 for the signing of the memorandum of agreement.

ISU’s Gender Resource Research Development Center will handle the research dubbed as “Gender Based Violence in Region 02.” ISU will handle the academic resources and technical support services aspects of the research.

President Ricmar Aquino said that the partnership is also a step to achieve gender equality in the valley.

The Army will handle the organization of communities that will be subjected to the project and quash insurgency.

“We want to uplift the wellbeing of the communities to lessen infiltration of communist insurgency,” 502nd Infantry Brigade Brigadier General Danilo A. Benavidez said.

“Kaya nagpapasalamat kami that you took us as partners. This serves as platform to attain other sustainable development tools,” he added.

The project will be funded by the Department of Science and Technology.
