MARIANO MARCOS STATE UNIVERSITY WARNS PUBLIC VS SOLICITING SCAM
THE MARIANO Marcos State University has warned the public against scammers pretending to be the university president soliciting money for the school’s projects.
The school’s Office of the President has received reports about individuals asking for monetary donations to help the university with the implementation of its distance learning program.
The MMSU clarified that the only donation drive it allowed was the voluntary contribution among its community to help indigent students cope with distance learning.
“Please be informed that the only authorized donation drive of the University is the Oplan Sappuyot, a voluntary contribution drive among the university community for the purpose of providing assistance to our students facing difficulties at this time of the pandemic,” it said in an advisory.
It added that the university president never authorized any MMSU official or employee, or any organization bearing the MMSU name “to request any form of donation, contribution, or financial assistance for whatever purpose or intention.”
The university asked the public to report illegal solicitation to authorities.
