LAWMAKER PUSHES FOR REVIEW CENTERS IN SUCS FOR LICENSURE EXAMS

/ 2 July 2025

SENATOR Erwin Tulfo has filed a bill seeking to establish Professional Review Centers in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) to support graduates preparing for licensure examinations.

Tulfo pointed out that one of the main challenges faced by SUC graduates is limited access to affordable and quality review programs, which are mostly operated by private institutions located in Metro Manila.

“While education in SUCs is often subsidized or free, many graduates are unable to pursue professional licensure due to the high cost of review centers,” he said in his explanatory note.

He emphasized that since the State is committed to promoting quality education and recognizing labor as a key economic force, it must ensure that graduates are equipped with the support needed to transition successfully into the professional workforce.

The bill seeks to set up review centers within SUCs for licensure exams in various fields such as education, nursing, engineering, accountancy, criminology, and more.

Tulfo added that the measure ensures continued government support for students even after graduation, particularly as they shift from academic training to professional practice.
