LAWMAKER HONORS PUBLIC SAFETY GRADUATES

/ 30 June 2025

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go reaffirmed his commitment to supporting public safety officers and uniformed personnel during the graduation ceremony of the Public Safety Officers Advance Course (PSOAC) “Lex Aegis” Class of 2024–32 in Davao City.

Addressing 58 graduates, Go commended their dedication and sacrifices, emphasizing their vital role in maintaining peace and order.

“Today marks the culmination of your sacrifices, discipline, and dedication to your duty as protectors of peace and order,” Go said.

“The name of your class, Lex Aegis—meaning ‘the law as a shield’—is very fitting. It reminds us that the law must not only be enforced but also serve as a source of protection for the people,” he added.

Go, Vice Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, urged the graduates to uphold integrity and echoed former President Rodrigo Duterte’s advice: “Just do what is right. Put the nation and every Filipino’s welfare first. You will never go wrong.”

He also highlighted reforms benefiting uniformed personnel, including efforts during the Duterte administration to increase their salaries.

“From the entry position alone, salaries were doubled. It was a commitment fulfilled — not just for the police, but also for the BFP, BJMP, AFP, and PCG,” Go said.

Turning to youth development, Go called on local officials to support grassroots sports programs as a way to prevent youth involvement in drugs and crime.

“Help young athletes. Support community sports events. Sports are an effective way to steer our youth away from drugs and crime,” he said, reinforcing his advocacy: “Get into sports, stay away from drugs.”

The graduation marked both an academic milestone and a renewed commitment to public service.
