HOUSE RESOLUTION BUCKS INCLUSION OF SAME-SEX UNION IN CURRICULUM
CIBAC Party-list Rep. Eduardo “Bro Eddie” Villanueva filed a resolution expressing the opposition of the House of Representatives to the inclusion and promotion of same-sex union, same-sex marriage and gender identity in the draft of the revised curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 10.
Through House Resolution 978, Villanueva sought an inquiry in aid of legislation on how these were integrated into the proposed basic education curriculum.
He said that the promotion of same-sex marriage, same-sex union and gender identity ideology is in direct contrast to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
“It will be a misery to be in a scenario where the two leading institutions in nourishing the moral and spiritual health of our youth – the schools and the church – are in contradiction of each other when it comes to matters of sex, genders and marriage,” Villanueva added.
The lawmaker said teaching students ideas and beliefs imported from the West clashed with values imparted by Filipino parents and spiritual mentors.
