NETIZENS: STOP ROMANTACIZING CHILD LABOR

/ 16 September 2022

A PHOTO of a young student doing his assignment on the street stirred a storm on social media with many calling on people to stop romanticizing poverty and child labor.

The photo of a Grade 4 student from the Moises Salvador Elementary School in Manila made rounds on social media. Reports said the student sells newspapers and candies in Nagtahan, Manila.

The child was reportedly helping her parents — a construction worker and a street vendor.

“Why do people still romanticize child labor and poverty? wake tf up, it’s already 2022,” one netizen said.

“Hopefully this inspired those people in power to cure problems on child labor and education at hindi ang mga Pilipino na mas lalong purihin at palakpakan ang mga batang naghihirap sa pagtatrabaho na hindi naman dapat nila nararanasan,” another added.
