UNIBERSIDAD DE ZAMBOANGA CONDUCTS TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY
THE UNIVERSIDAD de Zamboanga conducted a tree-planting activity in its Pasonanca campus as part of its program to nurture nature.
Project Bamboomerang Tree Planting is an initiative of the External Affairs and Institutional Development Centre.
At least 26 representatives from the participating administrative, academic and support departments planted 20 varieties of “Dendrocalamus asper” or huge bamboos from the Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance Inc.
Emmanuel Manuel, ZABIDA Community Environment Action staff, reiterated the importance of protecting the environment by planting more trees.
“I hope that this is not the end of our commitment and responsibility for the bamboos we have planted. Let’s grow and monitor it,” he said.
The EAIDC and ZABIDA anticipate more collaborative capacity-building activities to intensify and integrate their environmental awareness advocacy with the participation of the city’s various government, non-government, and community sectors.
