THE PHILIPPINES has so far vaccinated around 736,880 children aged 5 to 11, the Department of Health said.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergerie said that more kids will be vaccinated in the coming weeks.

“Inaasahan po natin na tataas pa ito sa darating na mga linggo kaya po ang lahat ng mga magulang at legal guardian ay amin pong hinihikayat na magparehistro na para sa kanila pong mga anak para sa karagdagang proteksiyon para sa lalong madaling panahon,” Vergerie said.

The government uses Pfizer vaccine for pediatric vaccination as it is the only jab that has received emergency use approval for kids below 11 years old from the Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration.

Meanwhile, Vergerie said that about 9.5 million adolescents have been fully inoculated against Covid19 since October 2021.

The government plans to vaccinate more than 39.41 million children aged zero to 17 years old.
