MORE than 230 fully vaccinated teachers received P2,000 each from a raffle promo conducted by the City Savings Banks, Inc for its education worker-clients.

The raffle promo is the bank’s support to the Department of Education’s campaign to bolster Covid19 inoculation among the teaching and non-teaching staff.

The bank believes that health and safety are top priorities to protect the country’s education frontline heroes and their learners that’s why it initiated the promo to reward fully vaccinated teacher-clients.

One of the winners was Benjar Ferrer of the Galarin Elementary School in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan.

Ferrer believes that being vaccinated is his contribution to the country’s fight against the virus and to the safe return of face-to-face classes in schools.

“Para sa (mga) bata at para sa bayan,” Ferrer said.

“Libre naman magpabakuna. Pumunta ka lang sa vaccination center,” he added.

Meanwhile, Carlo Masangcay of the Northern Naguilian National High School in La Union and Albien Arayan of Tagbina of Surigao del Sur were elated with their win.

“Thank you, CitySavings! Simple is good indeed!” Tagbina said.

Masangcay said that he will share his blessings with others.

“Inilaan ko ang kalahati ng aking napanalunan para sa napili kong mag-aaral sa aking advisory class. Ang kalahati naman, ibinigay ko sa aking Nanay. Konti man kung tutuusin, pero ang tuwa nito sa kanila ay hindi matatawaran ng anumang halaga,” he said.

Robert Baluyot of Alabel National High School in Alabel, Saranggani — who is also a raffle winner— admits that there is still some vaccine hesitancy among his colleagues.

He explained that some of his co-teachers fear jabs because of several reasons like vaccine misinformation they read, the experiences of others after getting jabs, health professional recommendations, social norms, lack of trust in vaccines and religious beliefs.
