PH GETS ADDITIONAL 780K PFIZER DOSES FOR KIDS

/ 12 February 2022

THE PHILIPPINES  received an additional 780,00 Pfizer doses against Covid19 for children aged 5 to 11.

“This is so important for the kids of the Philippines so that they can go back to school, so they can enjoy sports, so they can enjoy cultural events, so that they can be normal kids again,” USAID Health Director Michelle Lang-Alli said.

“The USAID is very excited to continue supporting the vaccine rollout. We will now add pediatrics to our plan and continue to support the general rollout and the vaccine for the kids,” Lang-Alli added.

Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. thanked the American government and Pfizer-BioNTech for the delivery of the vaccines.

“This will be distributed to different regional areas. They are expecting and we would like to thank all the different LGUs and also the National Vaccination Operations Center for the successful launching of our pedia vaccination last Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday,” Galvez said.

The Philippines kicked off on February 7 the vaccination drive for kids below 11 years old.

The National Vaccination Operations Center said that 26,363 children have been given the first dose in 40 sites as of February 9.

The pediatric vaccination will be expanded to more sites starting February 14.

The government aims to inoculate more than 39.41 million children aged zero to 17.
