DR. NINA Castillo-Carandang, a member of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group on Covid19 Vaccines, gave assurances that the vaccine that will be used for children aged 5 to 11 is safe.

“Let us assure the public, especially ho ‘yung mga guardians, na ligtas po ito at epektibo po,” Carandang said.

The inoculation of young children will start on February 4 in the National Capital Region.

Carandang advised parents and guardians to prepare children socially and emotionally before their inoculation.

“[Dapat] well-rested ang mga bata, well-hydrated. Tapos pagkabakuna po, samahan sa bakunahan at bantayan natin sila pagkauwi galing sa bakunahan,” she said.

Children may experience mild effects including headache and fever, according to the health expert.

“Dahil pilot usually po we’re cautious and we want to be very prepared. So, usually po ini-encourage natin na pre-registered ‘yung mga bata at nasala po sila bago sila bakunahan,” she said.
