JB BAHIO CLUTCHES A THREE AS SAN BEDA ESCAPES SAN SEBASTIAN TO REMAIN UNBEATEN
JB Bahio drilled a game-winning three with 0.4 seconds to give a San Beda a 61-60 victory over San Sebastian to remain perfect in the NCAA Season 97 seniors basketball tournament on Friday at La Salle Greenhills.
Bahio came up big on an unforgettable night with seven rebounds and four points including the game-winning shot that gave San Beda its fourth win, 4-0.
James Canlas-Kwekuteye led San Beda with 11 points and came up big on offense shooting only 4-of-13 from the field to go along with 11 points, three boards, three steals, and one assist.
Down by two, 58-56, in the final minute of the game, James Kwekuteye hit a clutch three-pointer that gave the advantage back to the Red Lions’ side, 59-58, with 25 seconds remaining.
Rommel Calahat responded with his own version of a three-pointer in the clutch for San Sebastian to make it 60-59 with 6.8 seconds left.
Bahio then came up with the biggest play of the game to seal the win, off a Ralph Penuela miss.
JM Calma paced San Sebastian with 12 points and 15 rebounds while Calahat got 10 points, six boards, and two assists in the loss which dropped their side to 1-3.
San Beda will return to action on Sunday against Arellano University while San Sebastian tries to bounce back as they face Lyceum of the Philippines University also on Sunday.
