PINAY GOLD MEDALIST WEIGHTLIFTER HIDILYN DIAZ PLANS TO WRITE A BOOK ON OLYMPIC CHAMPION MINDSET
Filipino Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz is planning to write a book about the mindset of an Olympic champion to inspire the younger generation of athletes.
Diaz is the first Filipino who won a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
“Gagawa kami ng libro, Team HD, the dream team, after ko manalo to give inspiration sa mga bata, sa mga officials, and everyone in the Philippines. Para malaman nila ano ba’ng mindset ng isang Olympic champion? Sana bibili kayo ‘pag may libro na,” Diaz said.
“Last time na-frustrated ako, sabi nila, ‘Alam mo Hids, okay lang ‘yan. Masyadong mataas ang standards mo,” she added.
Diaz has made the Philippines proud for bringing home the gold medal. With that, Diaz will receive cash from the government and other private sectors in the country.
After weighing 97 kilos in the snatch and 127 kilograms in the clean and jerk, Diaz beat out other rivals in the 55kg division, including China’s Liao Qiuyun. This follows Diaz’s silver medal performance in the 53kg category in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
