HOUSE BOOSTS 2027 EDUCATION BUDGET, ADDS FUNDING FOR KEY PROGRAMS
THE House of Representatives has increased funding for education under the proposed 2027 national budget, providing additional allocations for special needs education, Indigenous Peoples education, state universities, and technical-vocational training.
Among the additional allocations are funding for special needs education and P25 million for the Indigenous Peoples Education Program.
The House also earmarked P506 million for locally funded projects in various state universities and colleges, P966.65 million for the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s Training for Work Scholarship Program, and P469.26 million for the Special Training for Employment Program.
Under the University of the Philippines System, an additional P275 million was allocated for Project NOAH, P70 million for the UP Center for Education and Development, and P15 million for the UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics.
House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Representative Mikaela Angela B. Suansing said the Bicameral Amendments Review Subcommittee (BARSc) ensured that the overall education budget remained protected despite the realignments.
She emphasized that education remains the government’s top spending priority.
