Kenneth Mocon finally decided to try his fate in the upcoming 2021 PBA Draft and is ready to follow the footsteps of his brother Javee Mocon.

Javee’s older brother has formally submitted his application for the PBA Draft on Tuesday and adds on the boatload of guards and Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) standouts who are taking chances of opening a new chapter in their basketball careers.

“I just want to prove that I can play in the PBA and hopefully, become the best,” Kenneth said in an article first release on PBA’s official website.

Hindi siya yabang. Mangangarap ka na rin lang, why not dream big, hindi ba?,” he added.

The 27-year-old Mocon studied in San Beda but did not make it to the seniors’ lineup and was largely relegated to the Red Lions’ Team B.

Mocon, who stands at 5-foot-10, suited up for Wangs Basketball in the PBA D-League.

He also made his mark for Davao Occidental Tigers in the MPBL, he averaged 5.1 points on 40-percent shooting from the field, to go with 1.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steal in 14.7 minutes of action this past Lakan Cup.

The older Mocon is hoping to make the leap to the PBA and is looking to take the same path taken by his brother Javee, who was the sixth overall pick by Rain or Shine in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft and secured his slot in the 2019 All-Rookie Team.

“The reason why gusto kong makasama yung brother ko is not just because of the opportunity of playing with him, but the familiarity with the system. Kasi yung coach ko sa MPBL, si Coach Don Dulay, naging member rin siya ng coaching staff ng Rain or Shine, so practically medyo may idea ako sa system nila. If hindi naman sa Rain or Shine, gusto ko makapaglaro sa NLEX under coach Yeng Guiao.”
