BAGUNAS DROPS 21 POINTS; NOT ENOUGH TO BRING JTEKT STINGS DOWN
PH national team member Bryan Bagunas struggled against JTEKT Stings as Oita Miyoshi suffered a five-set loss, 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 9-15, in the Japan V. League Division 1 Men’s Tournament, yesterday at the Kariya City General Athletic Park Gymnasium.
Despite a strong performance, it was not enough to pin down JTEKT as the Filipino import tallied 21 points on 16 attacks and 5 block kills.
Moreover, Weiss Adler was also at peak of its play after grabbing the first two sets, however, JTEKT refused to lose as they clutched the game throughout the deciding fifth set.
Yuji Nishida showed why he is considered a monster of the vertical jump after bolstering 27 points for the Stings built on 24 attacks, 2 service aces, and a block.
While Australian opposite hitter Curtis Stockton also gave Oita Miyoshi a hard time with 34 nibs on 30 attacks.
And from there, JTEKT hugged their hard-earned win as they hiked its record to 6-2.
On the other hand, Oita Miyoshi is now sitting at the bottom of the standings with a 0-8 slate.
Bagunas and Oita Miyoshi will have to set their skills and hopes up for their first win on Saturday, 4:00 pm against the Toray Arrows at the Sumida Ward General Gymnasium.
