ALYSSA VALDEZ CALLS FOR UNIFYING PH VOLLEYBALL AS SPORT RESUMES ACTION THIS YEAR
Philippine volleyball star Alyssa Valdez is raring to be back playing her most-loved sport and looks forward to the future actions of the newly formed Philippine National Volleyball Federation Inc. (PNVF) which have taken the possibility of uniting the Philippine volleyball.
The volleyball community has been idle for over a year now due to the COVID-19 pandemic but this year volleyball games are set to resume into action.
“Very happy siyempre. As of the moment, I’m looking forward to have games na rin and hopefully, makatulong ‘yung federation natin to keep it going,” Valdez said during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old is elated to be back in action with the PVL that is set to launch its first-ever professional season in a bubble at Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.
“I’m really excited to actually play again,” Valdez shared.
The issue of the sports nation is that only the pro leagues are the ones allowed by the government to play through a bubble set-up, in which case, Valdez is also looking forward that her Spikers’ Turf will turn pro as well for the league’s games to commence once again.
“Sana maging pro na rin,” said Valdez, who is the current president of the men’s league.
“Kasi we all miss the men’s volleyball teams as we miss the women’s volleyball teams. Hoping for that talaga,” she added.
But what Valdez really is in high-hopes is the unity within the Philippine volleyball which the newly-formed governing body, the PNVF, has taken into consideration.
“Hopefully mas maganda kung magkaroon din ng unity inside sa lahat ng mga na-elect para siguro ma-spread nila ‘yung unity on and off the court,” Valdez averred.
