FUN RUN TURNS TRAGIC AS TWO STUDENTS DIE IN CAUAYAN CITY
TWO students died following an incident during a fun run held at Cauayan South Central School in Cauayan City on Saturday, October 3, according to the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Cauayan City.
In an official statement, the Schools Division Office expressed its condolences to the families of the two students and assured the affected families and the school community of its support.
Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Meanwhile, the school and the Schools Division Office are coordinating with the local government and other concerned agencies to provide the necessary assistance.
The Schools Division Office said it is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation and will take appropriate action, if necessary, in accordance with DepEd policies and established procedures.
Authorities also appealed to the public to refrain from speculation and from spreading unverified information while the investigation is ongoing.
The Schools Division Office urged the public to respect the privacy of the students and their families, particularly by refraining from sharing their names, photographs, videos, and other identifying information.
It also appealed for compassion and understanding for the bereaved families and all others affected by the incident.
