THE SHORTAGE in classrooms hindered the Department of Education from fully implementing face-to-face classes in Central Visayas.

The department said that in-person classes are conducted by shifts for lack of classrooms.

“One hundred percent of our schools do implement these full in-person classes but there are still shiftings because some schools lack classrooms,” Regional director Dr. Salustiano Jimenez said.

Central Visayas has around 4,000 public and private schools in its 20 divisions.

Jimenez said that many schools were damaged by Typhoon Odette last December 2021.

The department said that 2,516 schools were repaired while 884 institutions are still in need of renovation.

It added that 935 learning facilities or temporary learning spaces were built during the Covid19 pandemic.
