GERONA LGU UNVEILS MOBILE CLASSROOM FOR ALS STUDENTS

/ 10 October 2023

THE town of Gerona in Tarlac has unveiled its first mobile classroom for Alternative Learning System students.

An old ambulance was converted into a mobile classroom by Tarlac State University’s Solar Center Director Bryan Christopher Sico.

Dubbed “G-iRIDE (Gerona Innovative Roving Interactive Instructional Materials for Diverse Educational Needs)”, the mobile classroom was refurbished by TSU’s Center for Solar and Emerging Technologies.

It has a 50-inch solar-powered shock-proof television, speakers and a mini library where learners and teachers can access their modules.

G-iRIDE is also equipped with an Interactive Multimedia Teaching Aid that can screen presentations, videos and other lessons.

It was launched by the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Education, TSU and the local government of Gerona last week.

DOST Tarlac Provincial Director Karen Danez said they will install the DOST Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk Stations software, an offline digital library that teachers can access.

The mobile classroom will visit the remote barangay of Don Basilio to help address the increasing number of out-of-school youth in the area.
