BICOL YOUTH LEADER RELEASED FROM DETENTION
A YOUTH leader who was detained on allegations of possession of firearms and explosives was released on Monday, October 18, according to One Big Fight for Human Rights and Democracy.
Sasah Sta. Rosa, the spokesperson of Jovenes Anakbayan, was arrested in her home in Villa Obiedo, Cararayan, Naga City, Camarines Sur on May 2, 2021.
Former Naga City Mayor Atty. John Bongat helped secure her release after he discovered that the search warrant used had a different address.
Sta. Rosa, an alumna of Ateneo de Naga University Senior High School and BSE Math student, thanked everyone who helped her.
“Nakauwi na po ako. Maraming salamat sa inyong suporta,” she wrote on Facebook.
Several groups earlier accused the police of planting guns and grenades inside Sta. Rosa’s home before detaining her at the Criminal Investigation and Detention Group headquarters in the city.
