BANGSAMORO LEARNERS TO BENEFIT FROM P5K SUBSIDY

/ 9 May 2021

A TOTAL of 18,630 learners from 64 Standard Madrasah Curriculum in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region will each receive a P5,000 worth of subsidy.

The Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education said over the weekend the grant will come from the Bangsamoro government.

A total of P93 million is allotted for the project which came from BARMM’s contingency fund.

A ‘Madrasah’ is an institution of higher learning education in the Islamic Sciences.

“Distribution of this cash allowance was originally a program under National Government that was discontinued after BARMM transition. Hence, BARMM, through the Office of the Chief Minister, made way to provide financial assistance for School Year (SY) 2020-2021 and spent over P93M from its contingency fund,” the ministry said on Facebook.

MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said they will also include the subsidy for the students on their next budget proposal as there is no assurance learners will still receive their cash assistance for the next school year.

Each Madrasah will also receive 10 boxes of bond paper from the Ministry.
