ABRA TO HAVE OWN STATE UNIVERSITY
THE PROVINCE of Abra will have its own state university after President Rodrigo Duterte signed the law for its establishment last month.
On July 23, Duterte signed Republic Act 11574 which converts the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology into the University of Abra.
Abra Rep. JB Bernos, who filed the bill in 2019, said that with the university, “educators will have better opportunities to expand the quest for knowledge.”
Bernos said the University of Abra will ensure access to quality education for the Abra youth.
Administrators of ASIST thanked Bernos and promised to comply with the requirements of the Commission on Higher Education.
The University of Abra has campuses in the provincial capital of Bangued and in Lagangilang town.
