SENATOR WANTS TESDA CENTER IN BILIRAN
SENATOR Imee Marcos pushed for the establishment of a training and assessment center of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in Kawayan, Biliran.
In Senate Bill 1735, Marcos explained that Biliran is composed of eight municipalities including Almeria, Biliran, Cabucgayan, Caibiran, Culaba, Kawayan, Maripipi and Naval but there is only one TESDA training center in the province.
She added that the center is in the municipality of Cabucgayan, which is very far from the capital city Naval, the hub of trade and industry in the province.
Marcos said that the travel time and the cost of travel to the center is a burden to the learners.
Marcos’ measure seeks to establish the TESDA Training and Assessment Center in Kawayan, to be known as Kawayan TESDA Training and Assessment Center, which will serve the learners from Maripipi, Kawayan and Culaba.
It aims to equip the Biliran residents with basic practical knowledge and technical expertise.
