SENATOR SEEKS BETTER COLLABORATION BETWEEN DEPED, ORGANIZATIONS
SENATOR Joel Villanueva urged anew the Education department and organizations to search for a methodology to harness the connection and interrelationship among education subsectors.
“We must enhance and deepen the motivation for collaboration among the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education,” Villanueva said.
He stressed that discussions on the proposed creation of a Congressional Oversight Committee on Education to review and assess the Philippine education system is an opportune time for all to fulfill the mandate that the education sector must synergize.
“As representatives of the people, we hope to own the aspirations of the Filipino people for quality and competitive education for the future,” he added.
Meanwhile, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian admitted that Basic Education is in the spotlight because of the poor results in the Programme for International Student Assessment, Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study and the Southeast Asian Primary Learning Metrics examinations.
“Because of our poor showing in these three international assessment programs, basic education is put under the microscope,” Gatchalian said.
