FIVE students from two public elementary schools in Quezon City won bronze medals in the World Robot Olympiad held in Dortmund, Germany.

The robotics team of the Betty Go-Belmonte Elementary School, composed of Angelina Phoebe Castañeda, Mikaella Jannielle Sevilla, and Joem Fugaban, bagged bronze in the Robo Mission category where participants designed, built and programmed an autonomous robot to solve challenges in the field.

Meanwhile, Abisha Beatrix Florante and Zurina Mae Clemente of the Project 6 Elementary School secured a bronze medal for the Philippines in the Future Innovators category after they developed a robot that will replace humans in rescue missions during disasters.

P6ES Coach Shiela Rosa emphasized the importance of participating in global competitions.

“Competing on the international platform brings so much joy and excitement to us and of course, pride to our country. This opportunity gives us access to new knowledge and builds confidence,” Rosa said.
