OPEN SCHOOLS — KABATAAN PARTY-LIST
THE KABATAAN Party-list expressed dismay over the poor performance of some youth in the quiz show segment of Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10 Teen Edition.
The contestants failed to answer some questions on Philippine history particularly the nickname of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal and the popular compound name of the three martyr priests Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos and Jacinto Zamora.
The group said that the disappointing PBB episode showed the poor state of the educational system.
“Worse, the absence of face-to-face classes has made the youth more vulnerable to fake news, historical revisionism and politicking in modules,” it added.
The PBB episode should encourage public officials to seriously review and overhaul the K-12 program the group said.
In 2021, the Kabataan Party-list representative filed House Bill 8621 which seeks to restore Philippine history in the high school curriculum.
