HEALTH officials believe that Covid19 is not being spread in schools as no cases of clustering have been reported since face-to-face classes resumed in August.

Covid19 clusters are groups of confirmed cases in the same location.

The Department of Health said that in addition to mask use and sufficient ventilation, immunization proved to be essential in reducing the spread of the virus in schools.

Health officials urged parents and guardians to get their kids immunized and given booster shots.

“Right now, I am not aware of reports of clusters coming in from schools. Hopefully, that indicates we’ve been able to manage this pretty well,” said pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Anna Ong-Lim.

“We’re on the lookout for such reports because that will show there is transmission within the school context,” she added.

Dr. Edsel Salvana, another infectious disease expert who sits in the DoH technical advisory group on Covid19 said that infections in schools will be minimized because of vaccination, booster shots, masking, and ventilation.
