BOHOL 1st District Rep. Edgar Chatto filed a bill that will establish a Commission on Higher Education field office in the province.

Under House Bill 9287, the field office shall be in Tagbilaran City and shall be known as the CHED-Bohol Field Office.

Chatto said that doing public transactions is always a challenge because the Central Visayas region is composed of four provinces separated by seas.

“The Province of Bohol is home to around 24 higher education institutions – both public and private. Students who need to apply for financial assistance, grants and scholarships as well as those who need to secure eligibility and other documentary requirements for employment and other education purposes are compelled to travel to Cebu for their transactions,” he said in his explanatory note.

“Hence, to avoid the unnecessary expenses, effort and waste of time, the establishment of a field office of the CHED in the province of Bohol is a necessary move,” Chatto added.
