LAWMAKER REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR EDUCATION, LEADS BACK-TO-SCHOOL OUTREACH FOR MANILA STUDENTS
SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, in partnership with local government units and private sector organizations, led a back-to-school outreach program for students from Sampaloc and Tondo in Manila.
Go reminded students that preparing for the school year involves more than just purchasing supplies, emphasizing the importance of being physically and mentally prepared for the challenges of learning.
“It’s not only notebooks and uniforms that should be prepared. More importantly, our minds and bodies must also be ready for a new school year,” Go said. “Education is key to building a better future for our country, and our youth are the foundation of that future.”
The outreach program benefited 100 learners, who received school bags containing essential supplies such as notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, and paper during distribution activities held at the Barangay 940 Covered Court in Sampaloc and the Barangay 56 Covered Court in Tondo.
Go said the initiative reflects his continuing commitment to empowering young Filipinos by providing them with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to become productive members of their communities. The activity was also conducted with the support of private partners, including the Junior Chamber International.
As chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth, Go reiterated his commitment to advancing accessible, inclusive, and quality education, noting that investing in students means investing in the country’s future.
The senator also highlighted the importance of protecting students’ mental health as they adapt to the demands of the new academic year.
“Mental wellness is just as important as academic performance. Do not be afraid to seek help whenever you need it. There is nothing wrong with consulting someone if you are struggling,” Go said.
Addressing the youth, Go encouraged students to remain hopeful and assured them of his continued support.
“To our young people, never lose hope. As much as I can, I will continue to support you in your journey toward a better future,” he said.
