EX-UE VICE CHAIRMAN NEXT DOTR SECRETARY
PRESIDENT-ELECT Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. named former University of the East vice chairman Jaime Bautista as the next Transportation chief.
“Congratulations to (Bautista) one of the longtime leaders of the University of the East, on being appointed by Marcos Jr. as the incoming new Secretary of the Department of Transportation,” UE wrote in a Facebook post.
“As Department of Transportation Secretary, Mr. Bautista is expected to oversee various projects and concerns involving public transportation and the railway, aviation, and maritime sectors,” it added.
Bautista will replace Arthur Tugade.
Bautista, a certified public accountant, was UE vice chairman of the Board from July 2002 until his retirement in September 2019.
He was also a Member of the Board of Trustees of the UE Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc.
Bautista also worked at Philippine Airlines Inc. for 25 years and served as its president for 13 years before his retirement.
During his PAL stint, he garnered several awards including the Orient Aviation Magazine’s Person of the Year 2007 and one of People Asia magazine’s People of the Year 2010.
Bautista earned his degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in Accounting from the Colegio de San Juan de Letran.
