DEPED, DOH PRODDED TO ADDRESS OUTBREAK OF HAND, FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE
SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go on Monday called on the Department of Education and Department of Health to address the reported outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease in schools in some areas in the country.
Go recommended the temporarily suspension of face-to-face classes in areas where there are cases of the disease. He also urged authorities to intensify the campaign on proper hygiene.
“Sa ngayon po meron nang reports ng mini outbreak ng hand, foot and mouth disease sa ilang batang mag-aaral sa Batangas, Albay at Ilocos Region, kung kailangan po munang i-postpone ang face-to-face classes to contain the spread, sang-ayon po ako dito. At paigtingin po natin ang kampanya to promote good hygeine po,” the senator said.
He urged school officials to ensure proper sanitation and disinfection to stop the spread of the disease.
“Regular na paglilinis ng kapaligiran, pag-disinfect ng mga bagay-bagay na posibleng macontaminate po. So, DOH has to address this problem. At sa school level naman, andito po nagkukumpulan ang mga bata, dapat po tutukan ng DepEd at ng ating Department of Health officials,” the senator stressed.
The DOH earlier appealed to the public to maintain good hygiene to prevent the spread of diseases.
