DEPARTMENT of Education Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan admitted the K to 12 curriculum was too ‘congested’, saying a lot of lessons were provided to students.

It was one of the issues established by DepEd as it reviews basic education curriculum under the newly launched Basic Education Development Plan 2030.

Malaluan said BEDP 2030 goal is to solve the hindrances on having a quality education.

Earlier, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said BEDP 2030 was made to address the root cause of problems on quality, close the access gaps, sustain and enhance relevant programs, and introduce innovations in fostering resiliency and embedding the rights of children and the youth in education.

Briones added the department had embarked on the development of its first-ever long-term plan for basic education in order to proactively address the immediate impact of the Covid19 pandemic on learning as well as the problem of providing a high-quality education.
