COMPOSTELA VALLEY STATE COLLEGE CAMPUS TO RISE IN DAVAO DE ORO
THE HOUSE of Representatives has approved a measure that seeks to establish a campus of the Compostela Valley State College in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.
With 206 affirmative votes and no negative votes, House Bill 7565 or the proposed Compostela Valley State College-Nabunturan Campus Act was approved on third and final reading.
The bill was authored by Davao de Oro 2nd District Rep. Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, Baguio City Rep. Mark Go and ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Eric Yap.
The campus will offer short-term technical-vocational, undergraduate and graduate courses.
Under the bill, the Compostela Valley State College-Nabunturan Campus will undertake research and extension services, and provide progressive leadership in these areas.
The authors believe that by establishing a campus in the municipality, the learning institution will be more responsive to the needs of the residents.
“Illiteracy in the locality will be greatly addressed with the onset of better educational programs being formulated and implemented by a more inspired academic staff,” the lawmakers said in their explanatory note.
